If you live in Texas you know that we don’t have many seasons or perhaps we could see all 4 seasons in one week! A friend of mine recently posted a photo of her yard which was basically a giant pile of snow. What she said on this post is what really stood out to me. She said, even though it’s spring, it sure doesn’t feel like a new season. This really hit my heart. It made me think about all the different seasons of life that we go through. There are seasons of celebration, seasons of trial, growth, all kinds of different seasons. Each one bringing different emotions. Just like my friend who was seeing posts about everyone being outside in spring weather but when she looked out her window nothing seemed to change. The calendar stated that it was a new season but yet everything remained the same. How many times in our own life can we relate to that? Maybe God has revealed something is about to change and a new season is here but when you look around everything seems the same. The Bible tells us in Isaiah 43:18-19, Do not [earnestly] remember the former things; neither consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs forth; do you not perceive and know it and will you not give heed to it? I will even make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. I love this verse for many reasons and I think it shows us perfectly how to embrace a new season even when things around us don’t seem to match up.
- Let go of the old. God tells us here that before He can do a new thing we have to let go of the old things. We have to be willing to let go of what we see and the disappointments of our past in order to see that God has something new for us. Sometimes it’s not about Him not giving us a new season but more about us not letting go of old things to move forward into the new.
- What do you perceive? We could actually already be in a new season and God is doing great things around us but our perception is off. Our perception is our present reality and it’s as good or as bad as you see it. You can’t define where you are going by where you are, you have to define it by what God’s word says. You have to choose that God is doing something great no matter what your current circumstance is. What are you seeing?
Friend, God is ready to do a new thing! He will make a way where there seems to be no way. Don’t allow what things currently look like to define what He is going to do. Everything you need in every season, He is your source. He will make a way for you!
