I love looking at photos from years ago! It’s always amazing to see how much my kids have grown up and how far we’ve come. One thing I love about Facebook is Timehop and a particular memory popped up the other day where I posted “I feel so accomplished, the house is clean and the laundry is done!” I thought about that time in my life 9 years ago where I was being faithful in that season with what God had put in my hands. I had no idea what God was going to do in my life. I love the book of Ruth because I think she depicts the image of being faithful in everything she does. She is faithful in whatever place that God puts her. If it was honoring her mother in law- she did it well, if it was cleaning the fields- she did it well. She always chose to keep her heart pure while following and trusting God no matter what. Hebrews 6:12 tells us, that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises. This is letting us know that it’s never going to be easy! We will have to have faith and patience to get us where we want to be. We’ve all been excited for something and been filled up with joy for what’s to come. In that moment believing that you can do anything but what happens when you are having to believe God for a few weeks, months or even years? Where is your faith then? Too often we get our goals and dreams lined out but it becomes harder than what we planned for or it starts to take longer than you thought and then you look at our goals and think, is this even worth it anymore? We are all believing for bigger things in our life but if we aren’t being faithful with what we have now we won’t be ready for more. Where would you be if you stayed the course for your goals 10 years ago? You will see in Ruth that she sees the fulfillment of her promise at the end of her story because she was faithful and stayed the course through it all. I wouldn’t be where I am today if I had not been faithful with cleaning my house and doing laundry in that season of life 10 years ago.
Friend, the way you do one thing is the way you do everything. What are you doing with what God has put in your hands? Let’s be faithful and patient with every area of our life! XO
