A common question our church recently had is how do I grow my faith. I can assume this question is not just common in our church but most. In Romans 12:3 the Bible tells us, For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. How many of you can say you believe in something that you don’t necessarily know will come true? You may be saying to yourself, well not really, why would I do that? But in reality we do it daily. We go to a job and trust for a paycheck in two weeks when we don’t know what the finances of our company are. We buy a plane ticket, pack our bags, and drive to the airport without knowing if your ticket will work. I’ll take it a step farther with the holiday season coming, we believed in Santa up until who knows what age! I say all this to say that just as Romans says, every man is given a measure of faith. You HAVE faith, but where are you using it and how are you using it? I’ve just decided to make a decision in my life that I’m not going to give Santa Claus, my employer, and American Airlines the best of my faith. I’m giving it to God! Our faith can be a lot like a plant. If you took one home today from the store, it’s already rooted and planted in the pot but how it grows depends on what you do when you get home. The same is true with our faith, we get rooted and planted each time we read our bible, go to church, or watch a podcast but what you are doing with the other hours in your day determines whether your faith will grow and thrive. Your faith is as big or small as you want it to be and your are as close to God as you want to be. We can always grow in our faith, God’s plan for your life wasn’t just salvation. He wants you to grow in the things of God because there is more for you. Salvation is free but everything else you’re going to have to fight for. Now how do we do that and grow in our faith? We eat more and act more. Feed yourself the word and act on it more and your faith will grow greater and greater! If you want to change spiritually you have to change what your putting in and what your doing, and even unlearn some things! We need to change in order to see a change. You already have the faith and are made for things of great faith you just have to start eating more and acting more to see God show up in big ways! Cheering you on!
